Latest EAFRD "Calls for projects" launched

The Rural Payments Agency announced today the next set of “calls” for projects under the EAFRD Growth programme.  Each call is a national document with LEP area targeting statements to focus the funding on local priorities.  The Cornwall and IoS LEP has been working with the RPA to develop the call targeting and we are pleased to see them published today as they provide a real opportunity for food, farming and rural business to access support to help them deliver growth.

The calls announced today cover the following activity:-

  •         Food Processing (includes drink as well) – £3,000,000 allocation - for those businesses classified as “large”(over 250 employee’s and NOT on an agricultural holding) please note the significant change in the food processing rules.  For new business activity you can now apply for up to a 25% grant whereas previously you were excluded from participating.
  •         Business Development (including Farm Diversification) - £1,350,000 allocation
  •          Rural Tourism Infrastructure (NB the creation of new bed space is a very low priority for funding) - £2,175,000 allocation

Call documentation can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/rdpe-growth-programme

David Rodda MBE, Rural Delivery manager at the Cornwall development Company stated that “Like never before we need to get the message out across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in order to make the most of this opportunity.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on 07968 892939 as through support provided by Cornwall Council  I am available to help people through the process if required.  In conjunction with partners we are also holding an information workshop on the 7th of February” see here.
