LEP seeking non-exec director with finance or accountancy experience

Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is recruiting for a non-executive director to join its business-led Board.

The LEP is a partnership between the private and public sector and is responsible for setting and driving the economic strategy for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It works with the government, businesses and local stakeholders to prioritise activities which grow the economy and create quality local jobs.

The LEP recently secured over £14m from the Government’s Getting Building Fund towards £59m of projects across Cornwall, supporting 1,100 jobs over the next 18 months as part of Covid-19 economic recovery efforts.

It is now looking for a non-executive director with finance or accountancy experience to join its 15-strong Board and also chair the LEP’s Audit and Assurance Committee.

LEP Chair Mark Duddridge said: “Our ambition is to have an inclusive and diverse Board reflective of our business community. As a Board Director you will work with us to drive new and emerging opportunities for our region, help the executive team as eyes and ears on the ground in the business community and support us in championing Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and its economy at all levels.”

Board directors are expected to dedicate around three days per month to the LEP, although some Board Directors commit more and some less. Board members do not have to live in Cornwall or Scilly but they must have an absolute commitment to the area and securing its economic future.

The LEP is committed to promoting equality and welcomes applicants reflecting the diversity of the community including from people with disabilities and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates who are currently under-represented on the Board.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Monday 9th November. Interviews take place on Wednesday, 25th November. For more information visit the LEP website.
