Following the production of the Government’s Industrial Strategy, LEPs have been tasked with developing Local Industrial Strategies (LIS) for their areas to be in place by March 2020. The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly LEP will be embarking on the work during 2019. The LIS is a key document for the LEP’s engagement with Government and will set the framework for future co-investment and jointly supported programmes.
The LIS Manager will oversee and lead on the writing and production of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Industrial Strategy in partnership with Government. The Strategy will need to set out the case for developing key opportunities where we have global significance and can contribute to UK productivity growth, increasing economic inclusion and sharing prosperity and the key investments and actions needed.
The successful candidate will have experience of how to develop a robust and evidenced based strategy.
They’ll have experience or a strong understanding of working with internal and external agencies to ensure policy setting, strategy development, data analysis and evidence gathering results in a LIS for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The role holder will have an excellent understanding of the national policy context such as Brexit, National Industrial Strategy, Grand Challenges and Sector Deals as well as the geography, networks, key players and economy of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, key challenges, the link to government policy and initiatives – influencing the development of the LIS.
