Local Growth Fund (Growth Deal) Call for Projects

Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (CIoS LEP) would like to invite business and organisations across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to submit an Expressions of Interest for funding for projects that can drive economic growth

The overall Growth Deal allocation to CIoS LEP is £78m however there is currently £700,000 available from uncommitted funds. Although the available funding is currently limited the CIoS LEP would like to maintain a pipeline of projects in the event that additional funding becomes available or to signpost to other funding opportunities.

Projects must support the objectives of the CIoS LEP and align with the Strategic Economic Plan and the 10 Opportunities. In particular, CIoS LEP are seeking proposals that are able to create employment and skills. Guidance on measuring economic benefits is available here

Key points to bear in mind if considering submitting an Expression of Interest:

  • The minimum grant funding request is £250,000
  • Funding is for capital projects
  • Funding must be spent and claimed before 31 March 2021
  • Applicants should have a good track record of delivery
  • Projects must support the objectives of the CIoS LEP
  • Projects should make a good economic return with a strong rationale for public investment

You will need to be in a position to submit a Full Application and develop a Business Case based on HM Treasury Five Case Model if invited to do so as part of the next stage.  Further guidance available here.

The closing date for submission of completed Expressions of Interest forms is midnight 22 February 2019.

You can download the EoI Form here. Please submit your EoI to info@cioslep.com

Growth Deal funding has awarded over £73m to projects to date. A list of all the investments can be found here.

The following projects give an example of the types of investment the CIoS LEP are looking to make;

Hall for Cornwall

The scheme will deliver a Creative Tech Hub, co-located within the newly refurbished Hall for Cornwall within the Back Quay area of the building, featuring offices, meeting space and circulation space.  The new workspace will be used to support post graduates, new talent and start-up businesses to create a new cluster within the digital and creative economy.

Smart Islands Electric Vehicles

The Project will consist of the installation of 25 electric vehicle (EV) chargers, 10 solar canopies across the Isles of Scilly and the initial deployment of 10 electric vehicles.  The 10 electric vehicles will be available to local residents on a pooled basis and will include a number of different vehicles types.
