EU Funded Skill Support Programme Launches

On March 6th, Work Routes Cornwall officially launched its programme of support from its central office in Truro. The service will meet the needs of individuals by creating a bespoke offer that suits them. It will include health and wellbeing support, a range of workshops, one to one support as well as work experience placements and in-work progress support for up to six months after starting work.

Eligible people must be resident in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and must be 16+ years old. They must also be either, long-term unemployed or inactive, have a basic skills need or, have more than one barrier to employment. There is no upper age limit for the service.

Work Routes Cornwall is being delivered by Reed in Partnership, an established "welfare to work" organisation that have been supporting people around the UK into work since 1998. The new service in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is a voluntary programme that will be available for three years that will complete in November 2019. The aim is focussed on improving people's chances of finding and staying in long-term employment.

Programme Manager Ed Atter said, "We have an experienced and passionate team that are dedicated to making a difference to lives in Cornwall and the isles of Scilly. We recognise the importance of our task and want to help everyone we work with and to contribute to the future growth and prosperity of the area."

For anyone wishing to access the programme they can call into one of the offices for a free and friendly face to face chat. There are special open events on the following dates, Redruth – March 8th, St Austell – March 10th, Truro – March 16th and Falmouth - March 17th. You can find the support team online on Facebook and Twitter @ReedPartnership or @WorkRoutes or workroutes.co.uk 01209 701773.
